If it were me, I would go with heavier anyway. At least 125 grain points on the package arrows. Also, arrows are too important for accuracy to get “whatever the store has.” JME

 

My bow came with 20" headhunter bolts and I bought 22" head hunter for my new ones. I haven't learned enough to know if these bolts are any good because I've only target shot with 20's.

 

The more you shoot you’ll start getting a better understanding of what works good. Quality arrows make a big difference in how your crossbow performs. Most go with spine indexed .001 straightness arrows. We have custom arrow builders right on this forum.

Heavier is not always the answer for improved accuracy. Adding too much front weight (higher FOC) can also increase deflection which will make a light or moderate spine arrow less accurate.

That said, it's easy to add 25 gn of tip weight and test arrow accuracy.

Adding +25 or +50 gn to the field point for discharge purposes is totally fine.

My advice is to stay at 20" and find crossbow arrows with a stiff spine in that length that are 325 to 350 gn without a tip. There are lots of builders here that can make you arrows and there are many off the shelf arrows that will fit that weight class.

Black Eagle makes nice production arrows and their Zombie is very popular and will get you into the slightly heavier total arrow weight.

Walmart has the 20 inch headhunters if they don't have them in the Sporting goods section you can order them online, I've killed over a dozen deer with them the last severals years and they shoot good and should be hunt with out to 50 yards, I use them in my XP400, that being said Black Eagles Zombies are a better arrows but normally will cost you a little more.

 

i have also found the carbon express whitetails to be very accurate.
