Should I upgrade from RDX400 to Venom X

I have a Wicked Ridge RDX 400 I bought in 2020. It has served me pretty well. I did have one limb/cable explosion a few years ago. Otherwise no real issues. It has been getting a little inconsistent while shooting targets, but I probably am due for spring replacement, so that could contribute to it.

However I have been thinking if it's worth it to upgrade to something like the Tenpoint Venom X. Anyone have good/bad experience with this bow? I like the new Acuslide cock/decock system. Nice to not have to go home and shoot the bow each time I have an unsuccessful hunt (a lot lately). Also I've been dealing with some shoulder issues as well.

Venom X is very popular on here for good reasons. I would at least handle one to see what you think. Probably gonna feel pretty long after the RDX. I owned and sold both a Barnett XP 400 and a KI Logix. Both were very good, but felt longer than I became used to with my Burky RDX and the KI SWAT.

I definitely want to handle the venom in person. I am worried about the weight balance. I remember when choosing the rdx it felt so balanced compared to some traditional draw xbows.
I guess another option could be Fury 410 decock.

Most people really like them. I often sit in a blind and shot opportunities are generally sitting, resting my elbows on my legs for a shot. The longer bows just didn’t aim as steady for me when used like that. On a tree stand shooting rail or off a tripod for a rest shouldn’t be an issue.

I picked one up for my daughter.

Added a few upgrades - really like it myself. Very accurate, relatively quiet, balances well, not overall heavy, and the ACUslide works great! She has already taken a small buck with it this year - 30 yard double lung pass through with 440 gr Zombie Slayer and a Swat XMag CPX.

Not to say your current bow isn’t more than capable but you can’t go wrong with the Venom X IMO! 👍

Yes, upgrade. Owned an rdx400 and now a venom x. Definitely upgrade, better quality and better innovations. The venom x is solid. Killed 2 deer with it this year. Very accurate. For me, the weight up front makes the venom x hold much better than the rdx400.

I went from an rdx400 to a viper 430 and did not care for the viper. The acu-slide was great, but it just felt like it was a mile long compared to the rdx. That rdx put a lot of deer down for me. It might not have been the most accurate bow out there, but within 40 yards, it was a deer slayer. I'd say handle the venom x, then handle the fury 410. But then look at the siege 425. Problem is, once you pick up that siege, you may not want to put it down.

Yeah i love the balance of the reverse draw bows. I want to get my hands on a few to get a better feel, but I'm thinking I might just hold onto the RDX until I can justify spending a bit more on a higher end reverse draw.

You have a ... civic duty to keep the economy humming along and support your fellow Americans by buying a new crossbow made in America. In this case as a reward for such patriotism you're going to get arguably the best value in crossbows on earth. Great company, great customer relations and an exceptional crossbow filled with high end features at a very attractive price. I see no downside. :)
