Finally getting all my ducks in a row to test shoot ASAP custom built Gold Tip .302 small diameter arrows. This energy was created and started by Huntersthompson and supported with JoePa contributing small diameter cheetah arrows builds. I advised Mike to contact Farm Deer to make a custom small diameter Versa Nock. After several PM meetings Farm Deer built these arrows for Mike to test. I just got my arrows on Friday. ASAP custom build impresses!!!! More long range shooting to follow this week.

The notables in play. ASAP's ability custom build a small diameter arrow to be shot out of TS-380 Xbow. I'm sure there are other applications stirring in Farm Deer's head to appeal to a wider base. That is purely subjective on my part and TBD. I'm just impressed he could spine index an arrow and build a custom Versa nock to be shot out of a Xbow. This specialized request is just an added kudos to ASAP arrows. His engineering principles are extremely sound and the following pics show this shooter needs more practice. :p It sure isn't the arrow. Marty, I will be ordering strings soon. The OEM strings don't compare to your string work.

Mike's initial shooting results shows the smaller diameter arrow holds the POA more consistently in windy conditions. More testing is required but I'm now testing to gather more data. Other attributes is more effective penetration. However, the bigger play for me is the POA in windy conditions and better nock alignment on the crossbow string with custom Versa nocks match grade for .302 inner diameter shafts.

Today:
1. re-Sight my Vortex Crossfire II Scope. (video)
2. 40 yard shooting to pattern arrow flight. I did not shoot in groups because of potential Robin Hood nock damage. I'm glad I shot at different locations.
3. Install new Ironman Target. Double score! After shooting smaller diameter arrows the penetration is flatter that causes more friction which makes more challenging arrow removal. The Ironman target has resolved this issue. Farm deer explained there is more friction/heat build up with skinny arrows. When he returns or checks this thread he can explain why. He's has data on this. It has something to do with FOC and a flatter trajectory. He explained to me to use a paper test. George, that is all yours to explain. :D
4. My shooting station is not fixed. I use a primos shooting stick. I have to laugh because looking through the scope today I'd swear there was an earth quake. :p

Getting the vortex cf2 dialed in on the new xbow with new arrows takes a few shots. Good day for it. Found that mine shoot a much higher poi and to the right of my other arrows. Scope had to be dialed to these specifically. Shattered a nock after I did. Hitting very accurately at 45. Your much deeper penetration mirrors mine. Windy here again. Will shoot some before dark when it usually lays down.

Rich, thanks. It’s been a while since I spent time shooting my Xbow. Got the itch again. Ironman is next level for me. What a difference.

Rit, thank you sir. CBN has taught this old bird a good bit.

Archery is a great hobby / sport. I purchased a bass boat going into retirement last September because it was my past passion. I just sold it. Hunting now occupies the space between my ears. Better late then never. I want to be where my boys are. I have two DIY Colorado hunts later this year. Side by side wheels will be rolling on the high grassland plains stalking for pronghorn and mule deer respectively.

I may have retired but I’m still chasing the rabbit.

Nice shooting.
If one looks at the target cover edge, you see the wide staples.
This is where Spyder Web failed. They use a similar cover but narrow staples.
Spyder Web staples will either pull out or the cover pulls away from them. This
is where I mentioned in one of the posts to install 1 1/2" roofing nails on the
Spyder Web target.
Take care.

Looking good Tom. I bet you would get even better accuracy out of a rest like the Caldwell Field Pod. I have to be honest, if that's the best that expensive custom arrows shoot, I am not impressed. Only saying this as a "friend".

No worries but judging the arrows accuracy is bit misplaced in my opinion. I'm not a robot. I haven't shot a Xbow in months. I don't use a rifle jig. I didn't have my bubble level on my Xbow so canting is variable in play too. To be honest the arrows were getting better as I was shooting better. Note, I am shooting at 1" diamonds at 40 yards. For this guy I'm satisfied and the arrow fits my Xbow absolutely perfect. It's custom built for the Xbow. Nock to string is perfect.

Regarding price that is subjective and can be all over the place. Duly noted if this is not for you.

Still appreciate your comments. Maybe as I improve the arrows will do better. For me I quite impressed.

Shoot on!

I think it gets down personal preference. I like to shoot like I hunt. For me it sharpens my skills. Breathing, posture and routine.

From my position there are no flyer's in that group. So now this shooter has time to improve. Again, I'm quite satisfied with the sighting in shots. Hope to get to my state park to shoot out to 70 yards today or tomorrow.

Much appreciate your suggestions.

Oh, I'm I'm liking this Ironman target. This is a two finger arrow puller target. Score!
