I played with them off and on using excaliburs.

The one thing that i found worked the best by far. You remember the rubber tubing we used to use for are peep sight.I cut 4 pieces about 3" long and tied them on both sides. And it really quite the Matrix 405 down. It also knocked the speed in the head.

IMO you can get just as good results using a heavier arrow and get some benefit from it.

Most of the crossbow strings ride on the rail and most have string stops. So there's really no twang for the cat whiskers to silence. So about all they do is slow down the string/arrow.
