Tested the new hawk zoom ffp this morning after mounting it with the low rings yesterday. The scopes glass is crystal clear , I was comparing it to the burris ox and i think it is brigther ; but thats only from looking through both I don't have any way to measure that. I shot it at 20 yds and made my corrections at that range first. No problems at that range. Next it said to go to 50 and fine tune it at that range. Made my corrections at 50 yds and was impressed how accurate I was shooting with the extra scope power at 8x. I shot 3 arrows at a yellow sticker and went to check it after making several corrections. The group of the 3 arrows was 1.5 inches at 50 yds. I shot it again at 50yds and I got 1.25 inch group. I was satisfied with the groups so now i said lets see what it does at 40yds. The group at 40 was the same 1.5 inches Now I went to 30 yds same accuracy; in fact I shot at 3 different bulls as I figured I would bust an arrow if I shot a group at that range. Went to 20 yds at 20 you have to put the top of the cross on the center of the bull.
At 20 yds you can soot dimes. ONE more test I went back to 60 yds is far as I can soot due to some new over hanging limbs that have grown over last year. I only shot 2 arrows at the 60 yds and bot were about 2 inches high at 60 but that was probably me as I was shooting off a field tripod. I LOVE IT ! SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIXED POWER SCOPES ! Hawk has a great product. I don't know the mechanics ; but I love the first focal plane set up and the 8 power. NOT being good on computers or I would have posted pics of the arrows . I took some pictures with my phone but don't know how to post them. I am glad i made the purchase at 376.00 I think it is worth it.

Sounds like a heck of an optic!

I expected it to be good. A test you need to make is to shoot at 50 yards on the lowest and highest powers. Impact points should be the same.

Actual impact points at 60, 70, etc will be determined by your bow’s actual speed and arrow’s ballistic coefficient. Depending, especially if you anticipate a possible (hunting) shot at 60 or 70 yards, sighting in at 60 and then checking the other yardages would be in order.

Great to finally hear some success stories on this scope..sounds like it's a good match for your R10 (y)

Is there a point, at a lower magnification, the reticle is hard to see/use?
I know it appears larger as the magnification is turned up.

What model number did you get?
I see Hawke offers three.

I downloaded the reticle information for each one.
The reticle information Hawke has on their website for the 12321 (425-465 fps) and 12322 (470-510 fps) Are the same, which can't be right, high fps should have the aiming points closer together.

I liked the 2.8" eye relief, and 60 yard parallax setting.

I was surprised to see they used the 21 layer lens coating, H7 lens system (same as their high end Frontier).
Their other crossbow scopes use the 11 , 14, or 16 layer lens coating, H2 lens system (same as their low end Vantage series) I had an XB1 1.5-5x 32mm, 11 layer lens coating, H2 lens system, and I was not impressed.

I have a 2.5-10x 50mm, Hawke Endurance, with the 18 layer lens coating, H5 lens system. It is impressive!

I would like to compare low light performance of an H5 Enduranxe, with a 50mm objective lens, to this new model, H7 with a 36mm objective lens. I am betting the Endurance wins only because of it's larger objective lens.

I think that you may be able to get some info on the H7 setup vs the hawk endurance 18 layer coatings from hawk since they make both scopes . I really am not familiar with the type coatings they use. I have been in business with my son since 2002 in the eyecare business and I know lenses from low quality and top quality and the various coatings we offer for lenses to enable you to get more light , less glare and better scratch resistance. the price usually starts at 45.00 and can go up for some of the better coatings. I would not wear my glasses without AR coat it reduces glare and the copper oxide coating brings in more light to the eye during evening and early morning hours.. Plus it is better at reducing scratches.

It's because you can see closely any movements you make in firing a shot. If you think 8x is great you should see how much easier 16x is.

Have you tested it in low light? Pics of the reticle look like a lot of illumination unless it dials way dow, but the real reticle may be different than the pics.
Hope to do it sat evening as i want to shoot a few slick tricks just to make sure the bow is ready for the season.

Well I got home from the cabin earlier than I thought I would . At 8:00 Pm I went out side and took both the burris ox and the Hawk zoom ffp. and took aim at a cut off stump about 55 to 60 yds. away. First I looked through the burris and said not bad it wasn't that bad. Next the Hawk. Back to the burris one more time and next the Hawk. I wear glasses with sako premium progressive lenses coated with the best AR coating. Hawk wins hands down. Its much brighter than the ox. I tried it at 7 power as the ox only goes to 7x next put the hawk on 3x and the ox on 3x seemed a bit closer on the low power but still the hawk was clearer. I think this will be a very good hunting scope from 50 and closer. with the hawk on 8x even the close up target at about 15 yds is very clear. seems like the parallax is great at 60 and below with is as far as i can now shoot without cutting a few new branches at my shooting area behind the house. Seems like it was made for my ravin. lol
