You have put a lot of work into your crossbow reproduction and a lot of research into your YouTube production. A good presentation!
The music is a nice addition.
I am fascinated with the history of the cordage used for the bowstrings. Not a lot has been said about that and I hope to learn more.
Thanks for sharing.
The history of the crossbow did not begin with the production of fiberglass, carbon and Dacron, (As some young archers must believe).
thanks a lot
for china silk is a popular material
but also hemp and sinew is used
europe used linen hemp sinew rawhide
SE asia used their local trees like bark/leaves
Yes, interesting representation.
AFAIK, the Koreans knew a very similar weapon, not sure which one was first.
But I think some historical documents describe it rather as "annoyance" than as lethal weapon.
yes the koreans also used them and theirs is much more powerful that the illustrations from the chinese
prehaps the chinese had very similar dimensions because its not rocket science that bigger is more powerful
lots of historical documents were destroyed during revolutions by the way
2nd example, where arrow is not over the thump, shows correct way of holding follow up arrows, as you see one was just shot and as Jens has shown, this is correct way of holding an arrow(s)
