I've had plenty of opportunities I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Well other than the one shot when I broke my bow back in october, But it has been a good year of hunting/watching, now I'm down to the last 2 weeks and still not all that concerned about killing anything. The freezer is full from rifle season so my outings have been all about getting out in the woods and away from everyday life. That's always the best part IMO.

My high point was this ole boy. Very unlucky deer;-) 17 yard shot. First time I’ve pulled the trigger on a deer in 3 years.

Unbelievable!!! Sincere congrats for you and your patience. Dream buck for sure!

 

Have to say the high point is each time the sun rises and I see Gods handiwork and how blessed I am to be enjoying it.

Shooting a buck with a bow i built from scratch and sitting in a natural ground blind at 15 yds .
" LITTLE SASSY " will be my go to bow on the ground and short range .

Killed 2 good bucks this season but this one was a planned deal. Public land. Saw the buck out of range one evening and made an adjustment and when the wind was right 2 days later the plan came together.

Highlight of my season was staying healthy along with my wife, all of my friends & family, keeping a good job that allows me my hunting toys, and getting to spend the time I want to in the woods. The deer were the bonuses.

 

Really, this is all I need, just sitting here and enjoying Mother Nature. Doesn’t get any better

My High Point was taking advantage of the peace and solitude while sitting in the tree stand and Ground Blind. Having the opportunity to wind down and count my blessings is precious. Makes you whole again.

Oh, and killing a nice buck.

Hard to say … largely a cumulative thing with me.
#1. How well the teams in DMP's that I help organize and run have accomplished landowner goals. (very well)
#2. Putting my 20ga Benelli M2 with the Zeiss 3-12x50mm Illuminated Duralyt in service, and killing a doe with it at close range sort of stands out. Finding the spent bullet inside punctuated that memory.
#3. Successfully killing, locating and extracting 9 crossbow deer in a super sensitive political environment, with the risk of a media crapstorm, in a small park-like spot, in the middle of a super active powerful liberal community, while flying completely under the radar stands out.
#4.Running my ATV in a flooded creek bottom because it was the only way to get to one of my stands was novel.
#5. Being able to pass on knowledge to hunters is a fond memory. This forum and all the folks who share time and experiences is a good memory.
#6. The joy of handing boxes of venison to friends and seeing the smiles and gratitude has been priceless. Being a friend to friends.

 

It was a great season, just being able to hunt is a blessing, shooting a nice buck was a bonus, actually hunting in Vermont and having opportunities was a nice change, but my 11 year old grandson getting his first deer was the best!! He got it set up behind my house, I was in Illinois at the time when I got the text and pic. Priceless!

Youre right! That would HAVE to be the best highlight for you this year. There's nothing like a child getting his first deer.

I guess it would be getting my first kill with my Excalibur and getting it on video and my first 2 kills with arrows I made myself.

High points come with lows too:-( We’ve experiences the wettest hunting season I’ve ever seen. Mud everywhere. 4 days remaining in deer season and the forecast is for a chance of rain everyday

 

My entire season was a high point. Last year I could barely walk due to a knee that was "Kaput."

Had a total knee replacement last March, now I can "hang-off" the motorcycles in a sharp turn again, and climb a ladder stand, and get in and out of a blind without tearing it down.

God is good, all the time, God is good!

I also thoroughly enjoy the friendship and comradery of everyone here!
