Broadheads damaging arrows

Has anyone had their broadheads damage the arrow shafts? I've been using swhackers and swat broadheads and when the blades open and swing back they have been hitting the arrow. With the swat's I use a 25grain collar behind them and I have broke two of them in half. Today after shooting one of the swhackers I noticed the arrow had a fracture right in line with where the blade opens. I know the swats are popular, does anybody have a fix for this?

Instead of using the 25 SWAT collar I might suggest using Black Eagles add a weight system.

The SWAT rear blades do not appear to be hitting the carbon shaft in my experience.

BE offers a long T handle and various add a weights inserted through the nock end, that is, if your front insert is threaded on both ends and can accept a add a weight.

Toss the fractured arrow, it's structural integrity is history.

The Swhackers had this issue in the past. The only fix I know about was to:

1) use a dremal and grind off the back of the winglets to keep it from contacting the shaft. Swhacker later changed the profile of the winglets to reduce this issue. Thought it might be a non-issue now. ??

2) put a couple of small washers between the broadhead and shaft so that the winglets hit the washers instead of the shaft.

Your post is the first I've heard about for the Swats. Would this issue be dependent upon a particular model of Swat, or all Swats?

The Swat X mags i used damaged the brass inserts every time i shot one. To fix that i bought Stainless steel inserts. The heads would still mark the insert but didn't damage it. I tried the 25 gr collars also and saw what you did busted them. I don't remember them busting on the first shot but you didn't get many. Later on i ended up using 110gr brass inserts with a 50 gr screw in weight to the back of the insert. After i killed a deer i just squared the insert and it seemed ok. I only shot one Buck with the last set up then switched back to the FOC.

They killed great and flew good.

I never noticed the 150gr swhackers crossbow heads ever damage the insert or shaft.

I haven’t seen that on the Crossbow Magnums or Mini Mags that I’ve shot. This picture shows a sliver of a gap but the blade is definitely contacting the forward corner of the insert. I wonder if you got some bad blades. I think it would be prudent to check all of your broadheads. Looking at this picture, I think taking off that little heal would prevent any damage. I’m going to be checking the rest of mine.

My thought on viewing the submitted picture is the blade should make a full contact
with the length of the brass insert and trim the end to clear the arrow shaft. As shown,
a lot of pressure would be on the upper edge of the brass insert when the arrow hits a
target, animal or what ever.

Thanks for sharing.
Take care.

The SWATS x mag the old ones for sure damaged the insert. I noticed on one of Dukes pics of the new x mag TI the rear blades left a mark on the insert. Yes I busted every 125 gr collar I ever used. Bare in mind I test a broadhead a lot before hunting with it. So I shoot the crap out of them.

This is not a fix but a really good bandage Ethics archery makes some stainless inserts best they are imo. The blade will still hit the insert but not cause any damage. The 125 gr collar I don’t know unless they came out with a new style.

The swhacker crossbow 150 gr do not come back and hit. That’s all I know about them.
hooe this helps

Correct me if I error, but wouldn't this happen to any arrow used regardless if a crossbow or vertical bow arrow?
I sure hope this isn't an issue as I ordered six. I also noticed unless I am missing something, there doesn't seem to be a way to access your order history at the Swat BH WS.

The large four blade Grim Reaper that I use will sometimes do that. It'll place an indentation in the carbon but it's actually right where the insert is so it's pretty solid.
