I always heard coyotes would kill the red fox off. Maybe this fox is faster and smarter.

I see them both in the same area where I hunt as well. Plenty of both.

I have night pictures of fox and coyotes in my food plot at night. They been there all year...off and on. I've also seen both while deer hunting other areas before. I think they can co-exist.

Seen both before in a lot of different areas over the years.

The foxes live in the edges of the coyotes territory. Think of a territory as a large oval that is the coyotes home area. They will defend it from other coyotes as well. If you set any number of these "ovals on a map you would see where they overlap and have gaps. Those gaps are where the foxes live. They will go into the Coyotes territory, but usually when the coyote is on the farther end. Compared to the fox the coyotes territory is huge, he/she can't be everywhere at once.

Grey Fox have no difficulty as they can climb trees and coyotes can't. I find it hard to tell them apart in a B&W picture.

interesting because now that I think about this topic We use to have red and grey fox around my house and with in the last 2 years they are gone. But the coyotes are very abundant now. Our rabbit population was up this year over the summer. But still heard quit a few get killed during the night with windows open.
