Interesting after all the threads about all the work that members did to make the Hyper Raptor work effectively, the anointed it “Best beginner’s crossbow.” Not saying it isn’t great once the work is done, but best for beginners? Seems odd.

Guess I’m at least one step behind the great OEA. ;)

What am I missing? I Googled Morrell Big High Roller and it sure seems the target in the picture is not what came up in the Google search.
The Unsung Hero

The Morrell Targets Big High Roller target
Those are Morrell Kinetic 1.0 targets they work really well for super fast bows.

Wouldn't checking your group at a further distance say 40 yards give you a better idea on the bow's accuracy.
Am I wrong?
I would agree it to be a better judge of accuracy and grouping. Just about any bow would be accurate enough to hit the kill zone of a deer at 20 yards. However if the arrows are off at 20 yards, they will be off more at 40 to 50 yards

Facts! You can extend that to 60-70 yards and if you have optimized arrows the difference will be negligible which is a moot point since most kills are in the 20-40 yard range. Nothing but marketing 101. Pay the money you get on the list. Yea, I'm cynical.

They never gave the weights of the arrows they shot. For the VitalX430, the speed rating is for the Hyperlite arrow(370) but included are the Hyper arrows (388). On their speed comment, they didn’t mention that. A far greater discrepancy is the 515 at 488. I remember (I think) that the Nitro 470 got “470” with a 370g arrow but the manual stated not to shoot an arrow lighter than 400g!😳

The X1 should be included in the running. 20 yards!!?

Agreed with HT I see a lot of wrong information listed. This is why I pay no attention to b s reviews from most places.
Just going on one of the bows I’m very familiar with raptor they state you have to use the 204 small arrow. Wrong not correct and I did confirm this with Barnett today and an individual that I know very well that has shot the 2024 model before replying to this post.
And I find extremely hard to believe anyone could not do better than a two inch group at 40 yards. Possibly but highly not probable.
One would think if a magazine is going to doe reviews they could at least get basic information correctly such as price.
Not trying to be a jerk but just shows what kind of operation they run. And people pay for there crap.😂😂😂😂

I not only do not believe the accuracy claims but the DB shot levels seem highly unlikely as well. Lists Vital 430 X as best under $500.00 ,then shows price as $599. Then says $450 in article.Obviously confusing it with the original Vital X. Has Ravin as most accurate even tho it supposedly shot 1 inch groups while some how Tenpoints were all touching. This magazines biased lean to TenPoint has never been well disguised. They are a joke.

Is this event gonna be on memorial weekend? I'm serious about attending but need to plan well in advance. Hell, I stop buy and kidnap Farm Deer and drag him along too. Gotta extend the range for the RevX Ranger! :p

Late edit: 2025

Collect ... a hundred bucks each and buy one! Then raffle it off at the end of the BBQ with one lucky participant going home with a beautiful world class Excalibur Rev-X! You can make it a yearly part of the event. :)
This is an excellent idea as Long as it doesn't interfere with the Alaskan Panty Raffle!
🤷🏻‍♂️✌🍩
The raffles sound like a good idea, However, by law, you need to have a raffle license. Now you have the government involved, and you know what could happen then. :(
OEA would have to be qualified under a 501C tax status, file income and expense reports, which leads to lawyers and CPA's. Etc, Etc..

Also, at least in my state a raffle prize winner is responsible for paying sales tax on the value of the prize. How would you set a value on the panties?

Perhaps OEA could smooze the Excalibur marketing dept, with exchanging a crossbow for a years supply of meatloaf and personal endorsements. A win win for all. ;)
