Just Kidding......yes this is yet another thread about the outstanding service from Dave and his Company Wyvern Creations.
Ordered the Tenpoint Nitro 505 on a Sunday and it shows up here in Michigan on a Wednesday. 3 days door to door how is that possible.......? regardless of how good you are at logistics.
Though we are not that far apart this still is un heard of these days.
Another nice thing is I found Dave to respond to emails and messaging promptly when using his sight. Thats another thing un heard of these days.
No one really wants to earn your business they just expect it.
Its safe to say Dave has TRULEY earned it multiple times over on these pages with dealing with all the different personalities an wants of the members on these pages.

About the bow.....talk about earning it......the 2023 Nitro package is what dreams are made of when it come to crossbows.
I have a Vapor 470 and sat on the bench for the first round of the nitro. The crank seems better, the soft touch camo is real nicely done with no blotches or miss prints. The fit and finish is way past any thing i have had so far and you know I have had maaaaany bows to this point. The rail struts were really handled well as an add on, simple and effective with out bulk. This bow shoulders as you know like a fine rifle because of L.O.P.. Only to be found else ware on the older Excaliber matrix bows. The trigger is real good too.....still.
Is the bow worth the current asking price..i.m.o. absolutely. No buyers remorse with this sucker. In the end when you sit and use a little common sence and consider the enginnering and effort to Morph this bow into what it is today its actually a really good deal.

My Final thoughts.....whats a Ravin......?

I received the same great service from Dave, and quick, thorough and friendly response to emails. Makes things easier knowing that when I shoot my new Excalibur Micro 340 for the first time later today, I know any questions I have will get prompt and helpful attention...but everything about this crossbow is so simple and straightforward, that I doubt I'll have any :)

The truth! Great write up on Dave at Wyverns. I ordered an Excalibur Wolverine from Dave on the 2/28 and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. That is impressive!

Congratulations on your new bow, post pics when you can.

I bought my vengent from Dave when he just got them. Got it a few days later couldn't wait to shoot it so I shot out my kitchen window at my target. It finally stoped raining days later. Went outside to shoot again then discovered sliding the safety with my left hand well they weren't made for that . I almost returned it when Dave worked with TenPoint Rick Bendar to let me put a safety in other side but wouldn't let me 3 weeks later it came and was a go to install one after all that. He has great service!

If a 600 fps crossbow is just around the corner, I feel sorry for all the suckers throwing their money at these 500-505 fps crossbows. :)

Compound bow top speeds have leveled off quite some time ago. A few 2023 flagship bows -
Mathews Phase 4 33 = 336 fps
Hoyt VTM 34 = 334 fps
Hoyt Carbon RX-7 Ultra = 334 fps
PSE Fortis 33 = 340 fps
PSE Mach 34 = 335 fps
Elite Era = 336 fps

My ten year old 2013 Prime Impact was rated @ 340 fps. Very little has changed in the past 10 years or so. You may find a few models above 350 fps here or there. Most hunting bows are all about the same, & they have been that way for quite some time. If you own a somewhat recent compound bow, speed is not a good justification for upgrading to a new bow. I would feel stupid spending money on a new compound bow these days.

I haven't been following crossbows for very long, but I sort of sense the ceiling may be near for them, too. If nothing else, the smooth flight of a bolt/broadhead may become a limiting factor, too? I could be totally wrong, & that's fine with me. I'm just speculating.

I also realize compound bows & crossbows are not comparing apples to apples. Hand cranks level the playing field for most everyone. A young child may be able to operate & shoot a Nitro 505 on a tripod (under supervision) with ease. That same child probably couldn't pull back & shoot a 60+ pound vertical bow.

As baby boomers like myself continue to age, I think lightweight, reliable crossbows that still pack a punch will remain the most popular. Speed alone may not determine which crossbow may be the best hunting crossbow on the market. I know they say speed sells, but no one produced a faster crossbow for 2023. Some companies have a faster model within their own line up, but the ceiling for the top speed hasn't changed.

Excalibur doesn't seem to be chasing speed all that much.

Mission surely isn't leading the way in the speed department.

Several other brands like CenterPoint, Killer Instinct, & others haven't changed much since I developed an interest in crossbows a few years ago.

All of Ten Point's new models in 2023 are well under the Nitro 505. Ravin added a new camo pattern to their crossbow line up this year and called it a day.

If Ten Point produced a 515 fps crossbow in 2024, I wouldn't wet myself over that (especially if I am someone who craves speed & already has a Nitro 505).

the vertical world figured out those IBO’s in the 350’s were not a lot of fun to shoot. Short brace heights and stiff cams don’t mesh well with aging archers. The crossbow world evolves as companies find materials along with the technology to keep the bows together. Strings, cables, and arrows keep the balance for now. TP and Ravin have cams that over rotate. Vertical archers can manually only pull so much. Crank systems overcome that on the crossbow end. When crossbows can’t stay together, that’s where the crossbows will level out.
