Hi all, hoping for help for my father.
Anyome have a really good bolt, lumenock, and broadhead recommendation?

What seems to shoot best?
Mechanical vs broadhead?

Years ago, likely the most Excalibur knowledgable person period told me , that helical Blazer vanes and Excaliburs just go together. Out of my BD 400, I’ve just resighted in with 20” Zombies, helical Blazers, flat Lumenocks. 110g inserts, 125g MegaMeats.
But, it’d shoot whatever broad head pretty well.

Reason Im asking is I want to get him square.
Matched and spine aligned arrows and eliminate variables.

I was thinking of Wyverns two choices. They have a what I would say is normal set and then a heavier 500 grain set. I will call them in the morning.
If you have a max range of 40, a lighter arrow would be more forgiving if you misjudge distance correct?
The heavier arrow would drop like a stone out past 30 or be more stable overall from 0-40?

I have the Excalibur 420TD. Matrix width limbs like your 405. Used crossbow but new to me this year.

I am shooting the “normal’” zombie slayers 18” with a 125 grain head. The are about 445 grains I believe. I got those arrows with the crossbow (used). They shoot fine for my purposes. I may add lighted nocks for another 10 grains or so.

i suppose the 500 grain arrows would have more momentum and penetration. For my non-expert opinion, I think shooting about 450 grain arrows is good for deer hunting with this crossbow. I expect pass through shots. 450 grains is not a light arrow.

I would order 20” zombie slayers if I get more arrows from Wyverns, and stick with the 125 grain broadheads. I think the 20” will not stick out past your stirrup on the 405. Maybe confirm that with Wyverns.
