I have not fletched in years. I used to do all my arrows for hunting back in the day. I'm going to revive the archery box containing all my arrow building stuff, to do my crossbow arrows. Since I was doing arrows before, I see many changes in arrow building supplies. In this day and age, what is the preferred glue now for fletching? I'll probably use vanes for my crossbow. Haven't decided what style or size.

Gorilla glue gel is all we use on my dads crossbow arrows, my crossbow arrows when they arrive and it's all I have used for atleast the last 4 years on my vertical compound bow arrows.

I give the shaft a lil scrap to get as much of the old glue off and then get to fletching, I dont clean the shaft at all.

Never tryed aluminium, we only use carbon arrows.

I found that Saunders NPV does a better job than Fletch-Tite. It stays flexible and over time, the Fletch-tite does seem to loose its strength. NPV does take longer to set. It you are really in a rush, add a tiny drop of super glue to the ends of the fletch and set the clamp in the jig.
Regardless of the type, glues have a shelflife once you open the container. I the glue seems to be a bit thicker than you remember, then it is going bad and will not hold as well.
