What glue do you guys use on alum. arrows? I fletched up some 2219's and I'm having trouble with the vanes falling off. I'm using Gorilla super glue with the blue top. I don't have a problem with the carbon arrows just the 2219's. I'm using fusion's by the way and a 4* straight offset. I'm also using it sparingly only putting a few drops and spreading it across the base. Thanks

fletching glue

I agree with the Gorilla super glue blue , used it since first on the market, have never had a problem using several different vanes, do meticulously clean the shafts. my process includes finishing up with hot running water, allow to air dry, not wiping dry, avoid touching the shaft surface prior to fletching.Works great for me.

yes I use acetone and a clean paper towel wiping the shaft down 3 different times using a clean part of the towel. I was thinking about it and the only thing I do different from the carbon shaft is I use 400 grit sand paper. I will clean the shaft with hot soapy watter and let them dry and try that. I think I may have got a bad batch of glue, It is a new tube I just opened.

In the directions that come with quick spins,it states to use only water to clean the shaft, anything else with adversely affect the bond on "super glue'' or cyanoacrylate type adhesives. This is written in BOLD letters in the directions, that and you need to put a continues bead of glue on the vane and I like to put a drop on each end after the initial bond has set.

When using super glues, clean the shaft with alcohol, then an arrow prep wash, scuff the suface with scotch brite, then rinse with hot water and let air dry. Also put firm pressure when setting the vane, you only get one shot. It takes some time to master. Use a fine bead of glue, but cover the whole base. I started using fletch-tite platinum, it's not as fussy to use. Good luck.:D Directions are from the bohning web site.

I also use fletch-tite platinum, works good. I also wipe the base of the fletch (unless it's a feather) with acetone or 91% Isopropyl Alcohol (regular rubbing alcohol has oil in it and is only 70 - 75% Isopropyl, the oil will keep things from sticking correctly). One package of vanes had instructions to wipe the contact surface of the vane due to oils left over from the manufacturing process, I've been doing it ever since.

I use platinum fletch tite with Bohning Vanes.I clean the shaft with Alcohol and do not clean vane track because Bohning puts an activator on their vanes.Hold up to 3d shooting as well as hunting.

I'm an old fuddy duddy. I still use the regular Fletch Tite that takes a few hours to set up. I scrape the saft clean scrub with steelwool and then wipe down with laquer thinner. Still works for me.

Fletch Tite was all I would use for a long time the I was talked into using blue top gorilla super glue. I didn't have any trouble with the carbon arrows it was just the aluminum's. It's all good now I got every thing lined out. I re-cleaned the shafts with acetone and a steaming hot bath with scotch bright another good rinse with hot water and they are sticking good. Thanks guys
