I know you are new to crossbows but you do not understand how the ADF works. It is there to prevent a Dry Fire from happening when no arrow is loaded. When an arrow is slipped past the ADF mechanism it disengages it so the bow can be fired. A Partial Dry Fire is caused because the nock is not pressed or clipped onto the string depending on which type nock is being used. Any gap between the nock and string can cause the string to jump over the nock when the bow is shot. Usually a PDF will ruff up or even strip a vane off the shaft and the arrow will hit the ground somewhere between you and the target and if it hits the target will not penetrate very much. To prevent this from happening always make sure your nock is making contact with the string. That is why most crossbows have an arrow retainer which should keep enough down pressure on the arrow to hold it in place. If it is loose the arrow can slip forward and cause a PDF.

Agree Robert I only know of one system that the ADF is located behind the string to prevent this from happening and is not called ADF 🤔.
Another thing is the man has bow shield as it’s written on their site dry fire should be covered period they don’t state you have to pay for s/c it does go on to say at the bottom with it you can purchase s/c at a discount rate for your bow.

Maybe it's possible one of the nocks wasn't aligned correctly. Double check your arrows to make sure the nock is oriented correctly, should be parallel to the string and perpendicular to the rail. Sometimes the nock will have a small extrusion on it that helps align it with the cock vane.

The lighted nocks shouldn't matter. I use deepower nocks. I've shot the half moon and capture style out of my logix and 430x without issue
thank you i had some half moon ones i was going to use

so got the front half back yesterday and there is a sharp ding in the right cam. there are scratches and finish missing from the metal parts of the front half and bolts appear to have wear on them. emailed them pictures and asked why they would ship a dinged cam that is sharp when all of that was to be replaced. no answers form them. i worked in warranty for a custom rod shop for 11 years and we would never have sent any thing out messed up like that. now i have to worry about that ding cutting the string and going through this all over .my season starts in just over two weeks.,and i have no faith in this set up or the company. i have no idea how they figure it is all right to treat a buyer this way. so 600.00 for bow, 100 for bow shield and now 115.00 for shipping and new strings and cables and still have a damaged crossbow . never have dealt with a company that treats people as bad in 40 plus years of archery and hunting. just dont know what to do and worried that my archery season is ruined because of this. thank you all for your input and wisdom

Apparently anti-dry fire and integrated crank are just words on their brochure so they can charge more for things that don’t work.
You didn’t upset me at all I already had my awakening with KI and if you’ve upset anybody then it obviously hasn’t happened to them yet.
If I bought a Twinkie and it didn’t have the filling in it I’d want my money back, not that I eat Twinkies but you get my point.
If their anti-dry fire technology does not work then they should cover everything that was damaged from its failure and maybe they’ll think about improving it, or leave it to a company that knows how to do anti-draft fire.
that would be triggertech.

They sent you a used front end ! I don't see how they can stay in business, maybe this is how they do it. To me this is another nail in the coffin lid. I don't think since they stopped making the Swat, I would buy any model they offer. I may only get a 5 year Warranty but Barnett XP model I have will walk on that Logic

What ever you do, do not shoot the crossbow or at the present polish up the bad area.
Call Killer Instinct early in the morning Monday through Friday. A phone call is better
than an email for the simple reason one can ask each other questions and hopefully get
answers.
Wishing you all the best.
Take care.
I agree 100% with this. Be polite, but paint the story clearly of how disappointed you are, and maybe that all the responders on the forums you frequent told you to call, because KI is a good company.

Encourage them to do the right thing, and hopefully, they will respond quickly

I just had the same thing happen tonight to my Vital-X 430. I’ve shot less than 20 shots total with it. Came back from hunting tonight and headed to the backyard to de-cock by shooting until my target. The damn bolt flew about 5 feet. Had no idea what the hell happened, until J took a look at the string. For the record I’ve been shooting a heavier bolt setup for hunting. 460 total grains, so it’s not like it’s do to shooting a light setup like a lot of guys are having issues with.
I bought mine through Walmart, but I’m sure they’re probably gonna tell me to get ahold of Killer Instinct. And literally nobody has said anything good about their customer service and / or honering their warranty. Did not need this during hunting season. Thankfully it’s early yet.

You had a partial dry fire, your decocking bolt wasn't seated all the way.

They have great customer service, go on the website and file your claim thru the warranty portal. Make sure you registered it first

If the crossbow happened to have been tilted down a bit prior to shooting the arrow
may have slid forward a bit. Viewing pictures that crossbow has the brush retainer
which would have to be disassembled and trial and error to increase sufficient down
ward pressure if it did not have enough.
Wishing you all the best.
Take care.

This makes a TON of sense, and I believe this is exactly what happened to me unfortunately. Went to shot my de-cocking bolt after an evening of hunting. I noticed my noch wasn’t lighting up as I loaded the bolt. I even tried several times pushing it pretty hard back to get it to engage, but then eventually I just assumed (like a damn idiot) that the battery must’ve died on my noch, instead of taking a couple minutes to investigate why the bolt wasn’t engaging. What you just explained is EXACTLY what happened. The bolt flew about 5 feet, and the string and cables had popped off the cams. Particle dry-fire. Ughhh…I hate being a ‘Live and learn’ kinda guy. 🤦‍♂️

Yep…I just figured that out unfortunately. You think at this point the quickest fix would be to just bring it to a shop and have them restring it? If there’s no damage to the limbs or cams that is. Possibly upgrade the string as well.

Not sure could still be damage but I would def bring it to a shop asap
