Greetings. I have flat, threaded, aluminum Nocks installed in Carbon shafts. (.300 I.D.) I do not even want to attempt to remove them! Is there any type of lighted Nock that can screw into the installed Nock?? Thanks. 🏹🦌
Yea. Really... I "just" wanted to know if there was any type of lighted Nocks, as described. That said, thank you for all the input. it is greatly appreciated! I especially like Nock removal method, with the air blaster. First, I heard of this...I never said it was any good just what the threaded hole was for and trying to help the OP with useful info the hole was not for a lighted nock that was his question. I think he also said he wasn't interested in taking the nocks out. How we got to ways of pulling the nocks IDK.
Excal., Micro 315. What... You mean there are other kinds of crossbows?? Straight Shooter Custom Arrows/Shafts. Yes, threaded. They are glued in, not press fit.We need some more info on this...
What bow are you shooting?
What brand are your arrows?
Are you sure they are threaded?
Can you post some pictures?
Yes! I would like to see that. thought about the boiling water method, however that would almost certainly ruin the Wrap ends.If the aluminum nocks being discussed are like the ones I use to use for a earlier tenpoint. They were about 3/4" long and had ridges on the outer diameter surface for insertion and gluing. I believe the threaded hole on the back side of the nock, which was the same threads as a insert for field points or broadheads, was designed for using something like a field point screwed in for gluing and handling when installing the nocks.
I don't believe they were designed for the purpose of arrow removal If the nocks were lightly glued in, you would pull the nock out of the arrow, not the arrow out of a target.
On carbon arrows, I would not recommend using heat, you could damage the arrow. If the nocks are lightly glued or not even glued, you could use a longer 1/8" steel rod inserted from the tip insert end and use a hammer to tap on the rod to push the nock out. If the nocks are heavily glued or just stubborn, I would recommend the air blaster spray can method. I had some arrows with epoxy glued in nock inserts that were short of using dynamite. I used the air blaster method, with the steel rod, and the nocks popped right out without much force.
I should mention that using the air blaster spray, you spray it in the tip end of the arrow and use the can upside down so it sprays liquid propellent into the arrow. that cause a freezing reaction at the nock end, which cause the glue to break free. I was totally amazed how easy it worked.
There used to be a video on here using that method and sure it could be found if any body is interested in that method.
If I can find that nock removal video, I will post it here. Or perhaps somebody else could post the video.![]()
Yea. That is exactly what I am going to do. Thanks!Going on what i know. My advice is keep what you have as is. Order some custom arrows built with lighted nocks you can never have to many arrows.
Anyway best of luck with your arrows.
