Shim Washer Under Scope Rail?

My 165 arrived on Wednesday the 1st, a full week ahead of promised. It only took 12 days from the day I ordered it.

Have you guys determined whether you need the shim under the rail with the Hawke MAP? I mounted a Leupold Ultimate Slam in Warne Maxima Rings yesterday on my 165, and it was shooting at least a foot high at 20. I only shot it three times, but the shim would have to go for this scope setup.

I also noticed, if the shim was removed, the arrow finger would not contact the arrow without some modification there. The shim is teflon, and maybe just needs to be sanded down to a happy medium, or just get a thinner shim?

I am getting ready to just mount the Hawke MAP with the shim in place and try it this weekend. I did notice that the 20 yard crosshair is above center in the reticle, and the 30 yard crosshair is positioned almost dead center, so this may be the reason for the shim?

Also, has anyone mounted the Limb Saver Limb Tamer strips on the 165? They would not have room to be place at the limb tips on the 165. I did notice that the 165 is a touch noisier than the 125. I know that you wont get rid of the actual shot noise, but has anyone had any success with vibration after the shot reduction? The noise I was hearing was probably the levers on the Warne Maxima Rings, and would need to get the rings without the levers for this application. I just had an extra set, and thought I would try them with the Leupold scope.

Any and all thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

BB,

Thanks. I understand that it will be determined by the scope, but what did you do about your arrow hold-down finger? When I remove my shim the finger rotates up and away from the arrow. I could modify that if need be, but just wanted to know what others with the Hawke MAP have done as far as the shim goes? A little shim goes a long ways by the time you get out to the end of the hold-down finger. I think it is imaparative that the finger applies some pressure, to hold the arrow in place for the launch.

Is your arrow hold-down finger making contact with your arrow With the shim removed?

Thanks again. I thought I remembered reading something about the hairdryer, but couldn't remember if it was Scorpyd's or another brand. I'll have to go look that up.

Have a great weekend everyone!
