Killed ... a truckload of deer with 85gr 1" ST's. Killed Pile with 100gr - 1" Slick Tricks. Killed a slew more with 100grain 1-1/8" Magnum Slick Tricks. Killed a few with 150gr Crossbow Slick Tricks. They work fine as long as your speed isn't too crazy.

I have a lot of respect for guys like John Musacchia Sr. (Muzzy) & Gary Cooper (Slick Trick). I am a bit leery when a company is sold, but it happens to even the best of products. In these two cases, the founders passed away, & it became a family decision to sell the company.

I shot 3-blade 100 grain Muzzy broadheads for decades. In recent years, I have been using 4-blade 100 grain Slick Trick Viper Tricks. They fly awesome from my vertical bow. When I got a crossbow, I tried them first. I found no reason to try anything else. If I find something I like, I stick with it.

I like how the ST blades are locked together. I find them easy to remove & sharpen. Spine aligned Victory arrows along with Slick Trick broadheads have been a great vertical bow combination for me. I'm sure there are better options out there, but these work for me.

There as good of a fixed broadhead as can be had.

Not sure if it was the last deer i killed with a grizztrick but close. A guy that came over to looked at it said. What did you shoot it with a shotgun slug.
Exactly ... what I said when they first came out and guys would laugh at the little broadhead on my arrows. Laughed until they saw the hole in the deer carcasses...lol Makes a hole like a 12ga slug.

Every arrow deserves to wear it's own Slick Trick. Spent alot of time and $ coming to my lifetime broadhead solution. I get to only practice with what I hunt with. I just slap fresh blades in for hunting. Their hardened steel ferrules are legit the strongest you can get for the $. Back in the day these ran $5 a piece when they closed out their 10 packs. It has to be close to 10 years now I first learned about these on this forum. Still very satisfied with using them.
Key to controlling fixed blades is the stiffest shaft you can get for over 400fps. Zombie slayer carbon like used in the ole Spynal Tapps works great.

Used the 150gr crossbow Slick Trick last year for first time. They fly great. Very easy to assemble and replace blades if necessary.
Bought them late in season but did take a nice doe with the head. Left a big hole for small broadhead. Will be using them again this season. Shot from a WR Fury 410 on EVO-X arrows.

I have been around broadheads since the days of the popular Bear Razorhead, which was one of the about five broadheads on the market. When I switched to a crossbow, with literally a hundred broadheads on the market, I did my diligent research and decided on the slick trick standard 100's. They are solid built , razor sharp right out of the package and easy to sharpen when needed. Punched broadheads through rib bones with no damage.
So the question, how would I rate them ? I have no reason to look at any other broadhead.

I stopped ... using them about 10 years ago because of "some" complaints from guys having issues over about 390fps.

Mr Gary Cooper invented these heads and they are great broad-heads. Ive used the Slick Trick heads for years. Ive used just about everyone they have manufactured and killed a good many with them. I use the Viper Trick nowadays. These heads are sharp, tough and accurate. Im not sure that there's a better fixed blade out there.

If my life depended on it, meaning I would starve to death without a kill. And I only had the option of a slick trick griz trick or a mechanical. Hands down I would pick the slick trick. But like Duke said out of a faster bow they could be inconsistent. But out of my 390 solution which is probably shooting about 370 with my heavier arrow at the time it was pinpoint perfect at any yardage. Out of my Raven 29X it shoots consistently at 20 yards I never tried it past that.

Amen ... If you needed a model broadhead to live off the grid with, it sure wouldn't be a mechanical...lol Probably be some ancient type of 2 blade. You know, the kind they used to sharpen with a file. 😂 ;) Possibly a TOTA, but I had one of those break on me.

As far as this discussion goes -

If someone is interested in shooting a fixed blade broadhead, I would recommend trying the Slick Trick Standards or the Viper Tricks. The Magnum is actually their original broadhead, and their Xbow broadhead seems almost identical to it. If there is a difference between the two, I can't tell what it is (except the Xbow has a 150 grain option). The Standard & Viper Trick (smaller profile) were added to the Slick Trick line up as time went on. Both are known for their accuracy & great penetration on animals like elk.

Trying different broadheads can be expensive. Testing different types of broadheads with friends would be the best situation, but we all don't have that. My local archery shop gave me a single used Slick Trick to test out at home. At the time (10 years ago), I had shot Muzzy broadheads for decades, & I hadn't even heard of Slick Trick. My best friend (he shot Thunderheads for decades) & I were both buying bows at the time, & we got the same recommendation. ST broadheads were also the dealers recommendation for turkeys.

Eventually, I decided to switch to ST. I chose the Viper Trick, because I was getting older. My current bow these past 10 years has been a 60 pound compound vs my 70 pound compounds of the past. I decided that I liked the design of the Viper Trick for my lower poundage, and they really fly nice on my spine aligned Victory shafts.

If your bolts don't fly well with either the Standards or Viper Tricks, I would stop there & explore mechanical broadhead options. Those who are shooting 450 fps crossbows & have tried fixed blades are ones you are seeking advice from. I totally get that! That's not a realm I have entered yet! :)

At on time they were the best money could buy. But since the manufacturing went to china, their quaity has gone to trash.

Over the last 5 or 5 years. Me and 4 of my best friends have bought several varieties of them and all of them had severe quality issue including not spinning true to the blades being so out of spec that the broadhead couldn't be put together.

I have two packages of Viper Trick broadheads bought within the past year, and mine are not made in China. I just double-checked. The package states Made in the U.S.A. I've been using them for quite some time, and I haven't had those issues.

There may be better options out there, but I like pretty much everything about the Viper Trick broadheads. 100 & 125 grain Viper Tricks use the same blades. A 125 grain VT would have a beefier ferrule.

They were sold like many companies. They belong to the Outdoor Group below -

Had that ... happen only once to me. Many years ago with my 256fps Hoyt Xtec vertical & an 85gr 1" Slick Trick Standard. Shot the small doe and it had no reaction. Went away from me about 3 or 4 steps, one step sideways and fell over dead. At first I had no clue what was going on. What had happened immediately after the shot. I've had some instantly drop like a sack of rocks where they stood, but it's always fairly violent. Only that one that displayed nothing at all.

Reminds me ... of the time back in 2003 I had two deer passing by from my left. I shot the outside one about 15 yards in front and left of me. They both took off left to right literally like they came out of the gates at Churchill Downs going balls to the wall. The shot deer ran full bore face first into a tree about 5 yards to my right and went down like a train wreck. The second deer that was a step behind and still inside stopped on a dime alongside the kill. Went from all out to dead stop like a cartoon horse. Shot that one too right there.

I had two deer come out Shotgun season. I shot the first with a slug at about 20 yds. It ran full tilt straight into the base of my tree. The second stood there and watched. It couldn't figure out WTF was going on. That was his mistake as I shot him too.
