Does anybody use these broadheads and are they any good?
I've used the slick trick standard, the processor looked at me funny and said what did you shoot that with? 🥴 makes me wonder why I still don't shoot them. There as good of a fixed broadhead as can be had.
Not sure if it was the last deer i killed with a grizztrick but close. A guy that came over to looked at it said. What did you shoot it with a shotgun slug.
Consistently one of the best performing fixed blade broadheads in the market for over a dozen years. I often use the 100 grain Slick Tricks as my go-to choice for whitetail hunting.Once a broadhead is endorsed by Duke, you need no other replies. Been using them on and off for over 17 years. Just make sure you spin test them after assembly, especially the newest ones.
I stopped ... using them about 10 years ago because of "some" complaints from guys having issues over about 390fps.Anybody shooting these outta 450+fps xbows? No planing compared to target point?
Amen ... If you needed a model broadhead to live off the grid with, it sure wouldn't be a mechanical...lol Probably be some ancient type of 2 blade. You know, the kind they used to sharpen with a file. 😂If my life depended on it, meaning I would starve to death without a kill. And I only had the option of a slick trick griz trick or a mechanical. Hands down I would pick the slick trick. But like Duke said out of a faster bow they could be inconsistent. But out of my 390 solution which is probably shooting about 370 with my heavier arrow at the time it was pinpoint perfect at any yardage. Out of my Raven 29X it shoots consistently at 20 yards I never tried it past that.
Show up on an African Safari for Cape Buffalo or Eland with a Rage. They will laugh at you.Amen ... I have two packages of Viper Trick broadheads bought within the past year, and mine are not made in China. I just double-checked. The package states Made in the U.S.A. I've been using them for quite some time, and I haven't had those issues. At on time they were the best money could buy. But since the manufacturing went to china, their quaity has gone to trash.
Over the last 5 or 5 years. Me and 4 of my best friends have bought several varieties of them and all of them had severe quality issue including not spinning true to the blades being so out of spec that the broadhead couldn't be put together.
All of ours said. Made in China when we bought them. They were all bought online.I have two packages of Viper Trick broadheads bought within the past year, and mine are not made in China. There may be better options out there, but I like pretty much everything about the Viper Trick broadheads. 100 & 125 grain Viper Tricks use the same blades. A 125 grain VT would have a beefier ferrule.
They were sold like many companies. They belong to the Outdoor Group below -

Had that ... happen only once to me. Many years ago with my 256fps Hoyt Xtec vertical & an 85gr 1" Slick Trick Standard. Shot the small doe and it had no reaction. Went away from me about 3 or 4 steps, one step sideways and fell over dead. At first I had no clue what was going on. What had happened immediately after the shot. I've had some instantly drop like a sack of rocks where they stood, but it's always fairly violent. Only that one that displayed nothing at all.Just to add, my grandson shot an 8 point last year with a slick trick 100, the deer showed no sign of a hit,no reaction at all then walked 20 yard and fell over . Must be a pretty sharp head . Deer felt no pain at all is my guess.
Yes. That is the kind of reaction (or none) I am looking for again, although not common. I had this happen at least once during my compound bow days (using Rocket 3 blade 1 1/8"). It was a mechanical head, but very small diameter cut. The deer had no reaction to the shot. I thought I missed. It looked around, wagged its tail a few times, and started to walk off. Well, it went about 10 yds and took a dirt nap. I have been finding that deer have a violent reaction to the big cut mechanicals. It really doesn't matter because the deer will die in 20 seconds. But a deer can cover a lot of ground in 20 seconds.Just to add, my grandson shot an 8 point last year with a slick trick 100, the deer showed no sign of a hit,no reaction at all then walked 20 yard and fell over . LOL ... I had forgotten the little "tail flicker."Yes. That is the kind of reaction (or none) I am looking for again, although not common. I put Slick Trick heads back in my quiver again this year.
They hurt them bad real bad. I have had 2 Bucks run so hard when they crashed they broke a front leg. They just didn't have the life to run very far at all. Sometimes they just more or less stagger off like there drunk. But on average they run off 50 ish yards then die. They rob them of life like nothing i have ever used time after time talking killing deer/Turkeys.LOL ... I had forgotten the little "tail flicker."I tend to support your finding that deer really take off when hit with huge broadheads. They must really pound them or something.
