Some how I can not understand why all the newer scopes have the 20-100 yards ? What happened to the good hunting scopes from 250 to 400 area. I don't have a crossbow that can use anything past 60 yards.

Excalibur introduced the Tact Hunter this year - pretty close to what you’re looking for…

Unfortunately, the marketing departments have taken over the design. When people who are new to crossbows are deciding what to buy and see a crossbow package on the shelf that says it can shoot out to 100yds, and the other crossbow package says it can shoot out to 50yds, it's obvious what most people will choose....even though they don't really understand the practical limits. So now all the manufacturers just go with 100yds+

So now we all have to suffer with crowded and hard to use reticles, even though probably 95% of users are only shooting out to 50yds max, and the large majority of those are really only hunting to 30-40yds max.

The marketing and finance departments now run the companies and drive product design. Logic and reason be damned. All that matters is profit margins.

I believe alot of crossbow owners want to shoot longer ranges during the off season. Ive read alot of posts of people shooting 100 yards and beyond but that is just for target shooting, not hunting (atleast I hope not).:) To each his own....but I like my scope to be simple, not cluttered. 3 crosshairs is plenty enough for me...25 yards, 35 yards, and 45 yards.

Two shelfs of shells at wally world.

One says most accurate shell ever loaded.

The other shelf says fastest shell ever loaded.

Go look at two cars both have the same motor heck lets make them the same color.
One has a speedometer thats registered for 120 mph

The other is registered for 100 mph.

Speed even the hint of speed sales.

I guess they are trying to phase out the older crossbows. With no scopes available for slower models they make buy what they are selling. I don't care to walk 100 yards one way per arrow shot for practice. I shall deal with this my way next year.

The only reason the majority think the practical limit is 60 yards is the majority have always felt anything over that is not ethical. The fact is IF someone can shoot a 1in group at 100 yards its just as ethical.
And I will take it a step further a 100 yard shot will likely be more ethical because past 80 the firing noise of the crossbow is far less threatening to the animals. The odds are the shot will not produce the flight instinct in 98 to 100% of the animals shot at

Don't jump on go do the research

Personally I find t]most of the 100 yard scopes to be very cluttered. It's not the yardage shots I am worried about. My woods I get to hunt you can't see a deer at 50 yards. Not everyone hunts in more open areas.

I'm looking for a scope for my new Killer Instinct LogiX. Seems like everything has dots out to 100yds. 🤷‍♂️

I think I could get used to this one.

Not sure what you want to spend but I know a lot of people like the Huskemaw scopes. It's one dot and you just dial the DOPE in on the turrets

Coyotes and other variants are viable targets at 70+ yards. The speed ranges and magnification ranges are all determined by the manufacturer or xbow company. Few are building new older spec lens based optics. Most of the newer electronic optics can be setup for the xbows shooting mid 300s and some of those have variable magnification.

GL!

I went & looked at every scope Wyvern has, the only reticle I found I was half liking in the Excal Tact Hunter for most 200 samolians.. Sure beats all those 100 yard ones with 7-12 clutter filled junk piles.

Mike, I agree with you on most of the new scopes and reticles. I’ve seen guys on here rave about some of them that I just look at and say no way. All my local spots are 30 and under. If I miss out by doing that, so be it. A lot of the last 15 years, I used Leupold shotgun scopes with heavy duplex and they worked great.
