Something that belongs here in some way.
Nothing new under the sun - "nihil sub sole novum", as the old Romans said.

English subtitles are available, but the imagery should be selfexplaining.
And this "1505" is the year the book is dated describing it first.

tod cutler just had similar, showing multiple different methods of cockin crosbow
And a short scene from the video I linked was in in Tod's video, I think.

My point is the striking similiarity between this old design, and the EK / Adder /Cheapshot solution - up to the hook to latch the cocking lever in.
Which I don't means derogatory at all.
Just look how almost all current Excalibur models resemble medieval crossbows ...

^ i wonder how many patents cold steel and joerge had to circumvent to get they crossbows done
Coldsteel is only a distributor, that sells branded products made by PoeLang (a.k.a. "EK Archery Research").
Not sure if Jörg was involved in the design (except for the magazine, i.e. the Adder).

But if I was a patent office clerk, I would refuse to grant any patents for 500 year old ideas.
And the magazine idea is at least as old.

Afaik not for the Cobra RX and for the magazine he quoted the yt-channels where he saw the magazines first, iirc.
And these other YT channels only made reproductions of those one's:
Which states :
is a crossbow invented during the Warring States period in China that combined the bow spanning, bolt placing, and shooting actions into one motion.
Which would make this idea aout 2500 years old.

Just saying ...

Of course, most patents are not for core original concepts but for improvements. There are, for example, literally hundreds (perhaps thousands) of trigger patents. For firearms mostly- but also for crossbows, bows, slingshots, etc. Yet the trigger is as old as the first gizmo invented by the first person who grasped the concept of releasing potential energy.

I am enjoying watching the magazine-fed repeating crossbow concept & market develop. Most people, after all, are not gonna spend $3K for the latest 500fps bow that is pushing materials technology and therefore threatens to break at any moment. But a few hundred for a compact repeater? While the “big names” continue to try for Ferrari speed, there’s an entire market segment pushing for this more utilitarian approach.

even when its $5K they are still using the cheapest materials they can get away with

im fairly confident we could have crossbows with 700-800fps if they used latest and greatest
