The holes very well may be for the Gen5 LRF mount. I doubt you will see one as an add-on and I say that because the current LRF is powered and controlled through the scope. It's physically wired unlike the ABL for the 4K Pros and Gen4 ThOR scopes. They are piggy-backs that have an external battery and power controls. Is it possible ATN may make one that's adaptable, sure it's possible.
Looks like you are probably right. I just went back and looked for compatibility on the LRF:

Compatible DevicesX-Sight II HD Series, X-Sight 4K Series, ThOR 4 Series

It also says it connects through Bluetooth.

I'm pretty sure that's a reference to the ABL Robert but it doesn't mean that they won't build something similar for the Gen5 scopes. The thermals are in the same boat as the IRs and I imagine if there is enough demand, we could see one for the Gen5s.

It does say it works with Thermal on the bottom pic below:

Right. The Gen4 IRs (4K Pro) and Gen 4 Thermals (ThOR) are built on the same scope platform, which can use the ABL piggyback style rangefinder. The newer/smaller Gen5 scopes have the LRF rangefinder option but it’s integrated vs being available as an add-on.

so how does the newer built in rangefinder work....? Is it accurarate

that would be the model i would want to try.
The LRF works the same as the older ABL without the Bluetooth connection. It's simply a distance reader that sends yardage to the processor in the scope. The scope has a ballistics program that takes all the data or "dope" as they say, and it figures out hold-over and moves the reticle to that point. It's very accurate. Many shooters of the XS5 and 4K Pro get improved accuracy because of the single reticle, variable magnification and better low light capability. As my eyes go with age, making my target larger with magnification has significant value.

Rich, so do you need to hit a button to range ?
Yes, there is a function button on top of the scope or if you have the remote, a similar button to press. When you press it, a framing "pop-up" shows and you have a couple seconds to align that with your target. Usually, it's on target or very close to where you crosshairs are.

On my 505 with the older model 4K I usually range the ground at about 35yds once I’m in my stand in case something happens fast, it’s set. Once I decide to shoot I can range it on the animal or take the shot with it set at 35. Most of my shots I set up for a 35-40yd shot, I try to keep them as far away as possible and still leave me an easy shot. I’ll typically have some old arrows painted blaze orange set all the way from 20-60yds or if I’m in my woods I’ll have a few trees marked. It’s super easy to range though I’ve got a remote attached to the stock so it’s easy to tap the range button while I’m looking through the scope

Another way to set range with the 4K or XS5 without a target or the ABL turned on is to use the manual option in the menu. A few clicks of the menu and press up or down to set your range. Good to go.

There are other ways to range with the 4K and XS5. ATN does make a handheld rangefinder that will connect to the scope and provide yardage. Something Duke might consider OR he could step up and buy the BinoX 4K or LRF Binocs which do the same.

so is the image really that clear....? Some of the stuff shown on you tube does not look very clear..?

one of the main reason i would want this is to also have the ability to use as a target shooting scope at 100 yrds.
The GARMIN is not to good for this purpose but fantastic for typical hunting scenarios in the woods.

It’s great for a 100yd target scope. It zooms in really nicely, as far as clarity goes it’s not as clear as my Vortex Crossfire but the ability to zoom in more than makes up for that. It’s definitely clear enough to get the job done

It can be..... These are manual focus scopes so much of the clarity has to do with who's behind the scope.

Make certain to format the SD card. I think a lot of problems might be caused by info that was not deleted before downloading the updates. I might be wrong but I always format mine twice before doing a download which in my case is for cell cams.

Brand new ... and cleaned it by formatting it in the computer, then formatted it in the ATN X5. Then downloaded .762 onto the card in the computer. :)

Using my trail cameras as an example. All my cards get a Quick Format in the computer,
brand new or used. Some cameras, the card still has to be formatted in them. Possibly
due to the software program that brand or series has installed?

Wishing you all the best.
Take care.
