Well... put the firmware card in and booted up the X5 as instructed and it's not pulling in the .762 firmware. Rebooted twice more and still no luck. The "Firmware Updating" window doesn't open and begin updating. I looked through the software menu and no "Update" is listed. The only thing I see is "Import from SD card" which I'm afraid to click on out of fear ...LOL I'm assuming the update is supposed to self-launch so hitting an "Import" could trigger God only knows what. The scope shows the SD card is in it and operated normally but still lists .706 as the firmware version.

Got it done ... used a different SD card and needed a different SD card adapter. Reloaded the .782 from the computer onto microSD #2 and that worked. So there's joy in Mudville at the moment.;)

I'm getting .782.33vf on my screen.

Been running ... for 5 hours with no problems. Battery only down to 80% after all that time. AND, yesterday when I was testing .706 for 18 hours I must have hit the record button during jerking around. Downloaded that video to the computer. 4 minutes of spasticity... but it worked! ;)

I have 3 weapons that can benefit from the two ATNs. An ATN X-Sight 4k Pro and the new ATN X-Sight 5. Now I'm trying to choose which goes where???
#1. Winchester SX4 12ga slug-gun to kill deer at night for Farm Permits.
#2. Volquartsen .22lr for pest control at night.
#3. Ten Point Nitro 505 benefits dawn & dusk.

That's a good sign.

I'm partial to the Nitro/RDX but I'd really like to see you put it on an actively used weapon so we can continue to get reports and maybe some videos. It's multi-profilable (is that a word?) so you can move it around.

Update ... Left the unit running overnight for a "full hunting day/night test." Everything still working this morning after about 12 hours of being on. Battery is still at 30%. I think the X5 complete with a set of Vortex Defender flip open lens caps and Breakaway Coaster focus lever is ready for the next phase.

I think I'm going to take the 3-12x50mm Zeiss off and mount the X5 onto my 20ga Benelli M2 slug-gun to use on the Farm Permit. I'll have my 12ga Winchester SX4 with 3-15x Vortex for backup. I'll run the Benelli up until bow season then switch the X5 onto my Ten Point Nitro505. If everything works out ideally somewhere down the line I'll purchase another ATN X-Sight 5 and put it on the Winchester SX4 and put the 3-15x onto the 20ga Benelli M2.

My 150gr SWAT Juggernaut Broadheads that I got "On Sale" from Lancaster Archery thanks to a heads up from a fellow member here. They're made of titanium like the SWAT-Ti so I don't see how I could go too wrong using them. I can use them on my WWB 170gr NAP-FOC arrows that weigh about 490gr.

Enjoying this thread. If Duke can work this X5 than maybe this computer intolerant person can.
So far ... it appears to me that ATN made the X-Sight 5 more user friendly. The "Booting Up" message on screen is one example. It's telling you to wait until you start pressing buttons. Buttons that can do God only knows what to screw up the electronics. On the X-Sight 4k Pro TX_RDX had to tell me "wait 15 seconds before pushing any buttons or bad things can happen." That's a BS failure on ATN's part for the X4 for not making that clear in the manuals or better yet on screen in the scope. Heck the ATN electronics do a hundred things anyway, why not a red warning light for 15 seconds??? I don't have a lot of tolerance for things like that. Letting customers stumble into problems by doing something that's totally natural like trying to navigate as soon as the screen lights up. As I said comparing it to a TV. You turn it on, the screen lights up or boots up on a Smart TV and you immediately change channels. You don't expect it to lock up the TV because you changed the channel too soon. Well on the ATN X5 they DID put a "Booting Up" notice in red letters on the bottom of the screen!

Downloaded the Firmware update was simple and effective on my X5. My issue wasn't with the scope, it was with my computer telling me my microSD card was "Write Protected." (no clue why...LOL) Once I switched to an identical card and identical microSD card adapter the Firmware download was seamless. The X5 automatically triggered the download as soon as I booted it up. When it was finished it automatically rebooted itself. Just like you'd want it to do. My X4 firmware update was so bad that TX_RDX graciously offered to do it for me...LOL (successfully I might add.)

My point is: I think ATN learned from the X4 and the X5 is an improved evolution for the user.

That's not addressing the actual performance increases like picture quality, smaller size and weight, etc., etc. I know this could all go sideways but so far so good. I love Garmin the company. It's a good outfit and I've used their stuff. I don't dislike Burris the company. I've used their stuff. A working ATN X5 buries both the Garmin and Oracle for features and versatility. "WORKING" being the watch word here...LOL :p 😂;) TX_RDX got my X4 working and it has done some nice things for me both day & at night on a Volquartsen. I have my X5 working and we'll see if it does some nice things for me on a 20ga slug-gun. ;) Right now the battery is recharging.

I was wondering about the firmware version as I looked at the ATN update site yesterday and saw that they had the .782 listed and I did not see anything about a .762 version. I meant to mention it when I posted yesterday but forgot to.

This is where mine bricked a number of months ago- I downloaded the new firmware to the sd card and then when I went to power the unit on there was simply a green screen- couldn't get anywhere from there. I love the concept of the thing, but I just don't think I can personally trust it for deer hunting.

Which ATN version bricked on you?

Customer Service ... at ATN is as good as the best CS I've ever had to use. I 100% agree that the "concept," or all that the ATN packs into the X-Sight is exceptional. I also agree that if you experience pains with a unit, it becomes hard to trust. Trust me I know from the X4 locking up with deer in front of me on both my Ravin R29X and on a Volquartsen. So far, with a good firmware update the X4 is beginning to gain some of my confidence. It's early in the game with my X-Sight 5 Series, but so far it has my guarded confidence because it has earned it and not done anything to lose it. I say "guarded" because of my X4 experiences and the early introduction X5 reviews.

I'm running the thread to try and let the membership ride along with an average computer literate guy's experience with an ATN X-Sight 5 Series electronic optic. Maybe get some solid impute from the more experienced ATN owners to expand the knowledge of the ATNs. My demands on an optic are more serious than the average recreational hunter because I kill deer in politically sensitive environments, so I'll probably be more intolerant and critical than the average Joe.

yep...this is really good test of where their at......If Duke cant patiently work his way though this sight then you know its not worth it right now.
Sure looks like another fun toy.

Keep in mind No1, he already has a 4K working which had it's challenges.

Not to minimize the learning curve for the device, it does take time and patience, but if I can master it (and I know MANY others here have too) I think most of the CBN community could as well.

We're in a time of technology changes, which I find interesting. This is not a traditional scope and in comparison, it's complicated. This is a digital camera and night vision device that offers a single/unclutter reticle experience, with magnification and a laser ranging option. Everything a guy could ask for, right?

IMO, anyone that's interested in taking their hunting experiences to another level should look at it or something similar.

Keep up the readout Duke! The popcorn is ready.....
