Jim-

I am hoping you see this thread or someone informs you of it...

I am really close to buying a Scorpyd. Most likely the Telson 130 with a slight possibly the RDT150 will be the choice. Anyhow there are some issues I would like to see you publicly commment on...

1. What, if anything, has been discovered about the fraying cable problem on the RDT 165?

2. Would you be willing to, at the customers request, replace the Winners Choice cable/string combo with the Viper-X cable/string combo?

3. Have you had a chance to examine giannid's 165 that he had trouble with? What were the findings?

4. How many Telson 130's have had the same cam problem Super91 is experiencing? Are you going to reimburse customers for replacement strings and are you going to replace the cams that are having this problem; if it's a problem at all and not just an isolated incident?

5. How is the arrow development coming for the RDT 165?

If you could take a bit of your time and thoroughly answer these questions, it would help myself and others a bunch. Not to mention, reinforce confindence not just in your current products, but your company as well.

Thanks

Dorge from Firenock and I are working on an arrow for the 400+ fps bows. It is undergoing testing right now and so far so good. It has extreme durability and accuracy is very good. That being said, as I tell of the 165 buyers, you get what you pay for. If you just want to kill critters at normal hunting range, 20 - 50 yards, the LaserII will work just fine and not break the bank. If you want to fully utilize the bows speed and accuracy capabilities, you have to pay for Aramid KV's or something similar.

Dorge and I will keep folks updated on the arrows,
Jim,
I have a 165 and am loving it. Cant wait till October 1st for opening of deer season.
I have a quick story for you and the other guys here. I brought my bow to a local bow dealer to have it run thru
a chrony. When they took my bow to shoot it they told me I couldnt go with them. I told them that they needed a
rihinheart or spyder web to shoot it on. They told me no problem, they had a rihinheart block. When they came back
they said I had a Bad A-- crossbow, and they had some bad news for me. The arrow passed thru the target, hit the wall six inches behing the target, and drove the insert two inches up the shaft. On top of that they determined the chrony wasnt working. Upon further investigating, the target was not a rihinheart but a block brand.

I have the carbon express case from Scropyd and it works well with my 165. How well the case fits depends a lot on what sighting system you are using. I am using the scorpyd/Bad Rivers Sight system and it sit high in the case but if you are careful there are no problems. I also always remove my quiver and put it in the outer case. Tony

The Carbon Express crossbow case followed by the Tarantula case are the best soft styles, from what I've heard.
I believe, you can order the Carbon Express case from Scorpyd.

Customer service is alive and well at Scorpyd. A few out there like to throw jabs when they can at him but he's always there when you have a question or a problem. And more importantly the problem is taken care of. The hurricane delayed me boxing it up but that's past the power is back on and I'll be shipping it out first of the week.

Put me in line for that fix as well. Not that I have ever needed it, but it would definitely be welcome. Let's hope that Jim has it figured out. This will increase sales of the SLP platform, big time. I would be ready to send my 165 in for new limbs in either 125 or 150 to get the ADF upgrade if available. Keep us posted Bird!

Ok talked to Jim yesterday on the ADF. Bow is going back and a different spring is going in. I will be testing out a possible fix for it. Guess he is going to try to make it work. That's good news.

Any new news on the ADF ? Rex ?

Obo,

The ADF will be in the Telson models only. We cannot have SLP Crossbows on the market with the ADF not in some of the models and in some of the models so as Jim and I have stated that as of now the Telson models will be the only one with the ADF in them.

Well I don't believe in a xbow without a ADF. That was stated when I paid for it and it was sent to me. I was told then it wasn't a problem. We now know different. I don't want a 130 or a 165 with no ADF. So it's getting fixed or I'll move on until he can figure out a solution. There are many others that feel the same way. I've put off making the call but I guess it's time to see what can be done on it. Every other manufacturer can make one work so it can be done if they want to.

Mine latches fine. It's the rebound after the shot and the claw in the down position. The old fake cock and shoot trick to get it back to normal. The stopping of the rebound by slowing down the claw just a tiny amount would end it.
Big Bird VA
Raleigh and I had the same issues with the ADF and mine did the same as his .If the latch is rebounding now you mite want to have Jim remove it like he did are crossbows and others.I had a RDT125 first then bought the RDT/SlP 165 I though I would miss the ADF but Im Ok with out it.Like others have said .When it is cocked it is cocked and you pull the triger it will fire. Not to say you will have the same problem but you never know.My 165 is been fine eversence.

Jim's a smart guy, and he worked very hard at diagnosing the problem when it surfaced. If he says the right spring(s) won't fit, it's because he tried.

I don't know about the friction washer idea, though. Maybe you could run that by him.

Be careful if you are starting to have problems with your ADF. There is no way I was short cocking mine when it spontaneously fired. I felt no difference, and the string latched long enough for me to almost load an arrow. It would've been a disaster if my hand were in there when it went off.

I have not taken it apart but I cannot believe that a stronger spring can't be put in or some sort of friction washer to slow down the rebound effect that the faster and more powerful 165 generates. Mine worked fine for a long time and now it's getting slowly worse. As the spring weakens maybe? There has to be a solution.

I don't think there will be any news on this. I've never heard nor have been promised that the ADF will be resolved for the existing RDT/SLP 165. Unlike other bow companies, Jim offered a full refund or an exchange for an RDT 125 way back when he figured he needed to remove the ADF from existing RDT 165s. At the time, he explained that the design would not allow the necessary springs to fit, so no fix was pending. I declined his offers and decided to live without it.

Would I like the ADF to be fixed? Heck, yeah, but I never expected it would be for this design.
