I comfortably hunt to 60+ yards with a crossbow shooting 345-350’/sec with a 500g arrow. Yes, more speed is nice, but not necessary.
My recommendation is a KI LogiX ($499) from Wyvern Creations and use any left over $$s to buy arrows, BHs, optics, etc. This particular crossbow is, IMO, the best value available.
Look at post #10. Great info for you.

Good luck with your eventual choice.

So many factors to consider when trying to ethically kill a deer sized animal at 40 + yards. Speed of my arrow wouldn't be my main concern. It helps when trajectory needs to be determined but, speed doesn't necessarily lead to a killing set up. Alot of good info. has been provided. Good luck.

Back in June, with the great data that FMIC provided in his post #10, I produced a performance chart for that xbow with a trend line of all of the data. Using the chart, you can basically pick your arrow weight and get an idea of the speed you'd get.

This is right on the money, I bought the bow from FMIC and ordered some arrows from @WWB that weigh 410 grains and they are coming in at about 415 FPS using my speed ring scope.

I have a CP 370 and youre right, nothing near 370 fps, probably more like 330-335. I later bought a CP 425. It shoots about 380-385 (by doing the math). All I can tell ya is it is very much more noticeable over my 370 in speed.

Looking for one rated around 430fps.

In 2018 I purchased a Centerpoint Specialist 370 XL. It's my first and only crossbow. I had Jerry with South Shore Archery make me some Spynall Taps, and have been shooting Decimators with 100 gr Slick Trick crossbow broadhead. I recently replaced the string and cable, and upgraded to a Vortex crossfire II 2-7 X 32 crossbow scope. It doesn't shoot anywhere near 370fps.

Ive started looking for another good quality budget priced bow with a speed rating of 430 fps. I want to be able to stretch my shots out to 60 yards. I'm currently limiting myself to 40 yard shots. Ive heard both good and bad things about Killer Instinct and that CP has moved away from Mankung making their bows now. Im not sure what brands and crossbows I should be looking at. Some great knowlegable advice from guys here at CBN is needed and welcomed.
I have a new CP Wrath 430X, made by Mankung, with new custom strings & cables. The trigger has also been upgraded by rich @ txrdx. I have multiples of these and need to thin out the herd. $700 plus shipping.
