Stuff happens My fault your fault nobody's fault.

As long as it gets fixed is all that matters. There have been 2 brands of bows i bailed on in 16 years and its for life because of how i was treated by the company and same 2 bows caused me to trust a dealer and i throw him my business as much as i can for life.

I hope he gets his bow fixed and has no more problems and becomes a regular around here.

From what I understand with Killer Instincts policies, With the Bowshield coverage, even dry fires are covered as well as labor. However, strings and cables are chargeable but with a 10% discount. Shipping is the responsibility of the crossbow owner.

Q: Am I responsible for return shipping on a warranty claim?
A:
Yes, whether the crossbow is shipped back to the dealer or to KILLER INSTINCT™, shipping is the responsibility of the customer.

With that, I assume the $100.00 you are saying it will cost you is for discounted new strings and cables and shipping charges.

Their price on strings and cables are listed at 39.99 each, with a 10% discount that would be a charges of $72,00. the rest would be shipping charges.

Best to fully understand manufacture policies before any purchases.

However, upon inspection and being a new crossbow with the additional warranty, with a result due to a manufacture defect, perhaps killer Instinct will do better.

I understand your frustration, but ranting on Crossbow Nation will not get the issue resolved. Work with Killer Instinct and hope for the best. Let all here know the determination and causes of the damages and the final results.

Good Luck.

. Wicked Ridge is a much better crossbow brand than these cross the pond wannabe's. In the future save up your hard earned money & purchase a good solid well made crossbow "made" in North America.
Wicked Ridge advertises and states " Built " in America, not made in America.

Built means assembled, Made means manufactured. :)

Many products can list as assembled in a certain country. Sometimes it
is too costly to build or acquire the manufacturing equipment especially
where wages are concerned or purchasing the material for construction.
There fore it is much cheaper to import or to manufacture in another country.

Think what would happen to the less fortunate, lower income people if
say Wal Mart, Best Buy or Costco as examples were to shut down.
Just recently a large city in my province changed the city bus routes
and eliminated 1200 bus stops claiming for a more efficient route. Lots
of business along these streets where the bus stops and shelters were
are losing business big time. Bus passengers would come in for snacks,
groceries, clothing etc. but now are no longer coming.
Wishing you all the best.
Take care.

Steve t,
I'm sorry this happened to you. As you are a very experienced crossbow user, I think you deserve the benefit of the doubt. After 40 years, most guys are mature enough to just admit if they dry-fired their bow. At least the ones I choose to be around.

I have had similar situations with manufacturers. Very often, you need to call back and talk to a different rep. I had something very similar happen to me with a scope. It was absolutely horrible, right out of the box. Everyone was accusing me of dropping it, mounting it wrong or doing something else to it, including the factory representative, but I had not. It went onto the gun and straight into test firing as soon as I got it. Not a scratch on it.

Very irritated at the accusations, I called the company back after messing with the scope more. It ws all over the place, nothing I could find was wrong. This time, I got the supervisor of the first person, as everyone else had gone home. I held back my frustration and calmly explained the situation from the start.

He listened quietly, and when I finished, he said, "I am so sorry you went through that. It sounds like it's the scope. It happens on rare occasions. You are absolutely covered by our warranty. Since the scope is new, I will email you a return slip with shipping, and we will get you a new scope in the mail as soon as we receive and inspect it. I apologize in behalf of the representative who gave you incorrect information."

I was surprised and very pleased. I printed out the shipping label, received another new scope within a week, and this one has no issues. Not saying this will happen for you, but sometimes calling back during another shift time or asking for a supervisor is worth the effort.

I do have a question, for you... How long between the time you bought your Xbow and the time it blew up? It really doesn't matter, with that particular warranty, but I'm just curious.

I've learned to test new purchases IMMEDIATELY, because too many times I've let something sit in the box only to discover that it was defective when I needed it. That sucks every time!

I hope all goes well for you.

I bought it in mid April but did not use it until the day it blew up.i have had a hard time finding places to shoot a crossbow where I live.even though I am a long time member of a archery club and VP of the club we don't allow crossbows at our bow range and gun ranges don't allow them and my state says that you can only use them on a range or private property.so it has been in a padded crossbow case in my room.i all so have been trying to get a better scope set up on it and getting a bunch of stuff to go with it.so it had not been used other then to add the scope mount and scope and to show it to my kids.in my state you have to be disabled to hunt with a crossbow and just got my doctor to fill out and turn in the paper work a month ago.so now I cant even go back to normal compound by state game laws.need less to say it has not been a pleasant switch.had problems getting the bow and got a run around from ki and finally a refund from them and bought the logix from a dealer the next state away and was dead set on getting it even though i had heard ki had a bad reputation.i read and watched every thing I could on that bow and it was all I wanted.i bought the crank for it before I even had the bow. And then I get permission to sight it in on private property so I buy a target and we set up a bench and rest and first 5 shot awesome.then number 6 loud crack and everything comes apart.so I know am upset and don't have another 600. To get new bow and my season starts in october.so I think it's good I bought the insurance plan it will be covered.and again I get different emails with different answers. At evening I get one saying check the back half and if it's ok they would send me a new front.then I wake up and there is another email from ki saying it was going to cost me 100.00 plus shipping and had to mail the bow in.so I got lied to and I was very mad.never had a archery company act like they have and I have dealt with a bunch of them.they told me I had no proof that it was only shot 6 times because I bought it mid April. And again strings and cables not covered.i said it was a new string and should not have come apart at the loop on the cam and the string must have been bad. But I'm the bad guy after trusting them giving them my money and paying extra to have it protected by the plan. And wanting them to own up to a bad string and just cover that but no so I will not buy another ki down the line and will make sure I let people know why. I thought by starting this post I would find out if anyone else had trouble but have got nothing from most people here but being called out and told it was my fault.the bolt was as far back as it would go. I'm sorry for this long answer but turning to using a crossbow has not been a good experience. And I have 40 years in to archery and have helped in a few different shops in the past.dealing with crossbows has been the last 2 years helping and learning from several friends that all shoot them now and have been trying to get my archery club to put in a crossbow only set up so the older people like me can still shoot. But after this I don't know if it's even worth it and now I do not trust the crossbow. So thank you for being nice and trying to find out with out putting blame

Brand new killer instinct logix crossbow blows up on 6th shot. The serving let go on the right cam and destroyed the string cams and limbs.boughtbbow shield protection and paid 100.00 more for it.killer instinct wants me to pay 100.00 more to fix their cheap strings that failed on the 6th shot.any one else have this type of problems with this company.got a run around when I tried to buy one direct from company and had to go through a dealer after waiting to get my money back from them and now this not a good company to deal with
I feel your pain brother, I bought the logix with the integrated crank for an extra $100 that lasted five shots, they sent me a new one that also failed after a few shots and then I found out nobody’s crank was working properly. Which led me to the question why did this company put out a product they had to have known didn’t work? Then they didn’t honor our agreement for a replacement and sent me something so different from what we agreed upon I almost threw the whole damn thing in the dumpster but I sold it on here for cheap.
I know some people have great luck with KI but I will never buy another KI product.
And I know people make mistakes and things happen but I don’t understand every time somebody has a problem with the product on this site everybody’s trying to figure out what the user did wrong. Sometimes company’s just turn out a shitty product in a good line or an entire shitty product Line like the integrated crank. That paying the extra for the warranty and still having to shell out any cash would absolutely piss me off to.
I never buy the extra warranty for that very reason, if they can’t stand behind their product with the warranty that comes with the purchase of their product I guess I don’t need their product. I hope it all works out for you but your best bet would be to sell that POS for cheap, take your losses and buy a better brand.
After my KI fiasco I bought a second tenpoint high performance bow with zero regrets.
Thanks for sharing your story it reinforces my already held belief about this company.

Sorry your introduction into the crossbow world has been such a negative one! I think that the companies policy of not covering strings and cables is normal. These need to be changed at regular intervals for the bow to stay in time and be safe. They would go broke if they covered them.
I agree with an above post of calling back without attitude and having patience will probably get you farther than trashing their name on here. I think the $100.00 dollars is a fair price for string, cables, and shipping! Just politely inform them that it was a new string with only a handful of shots on it.

What state do you live in anyway? I would join your states crossbow coalition and vent like you have above to get rules changed. It surely worked in NY and the power is in the people. Good luck in the future and keep the faith….

Not sure why it happens, even with otherwise decent guys, but it does.

So, now we see a 2nd person with a KI that blew up after a few shots. The difference is that Huckleberry used his immediately after purchase. But KI still didn't handle the problem in a satisfactory way.

Steve t,
The time period since April is the reason they won't warranty the strings. Not much you can do with that. Hopefully, they give you a good front end and you have no more issues. It seems like a lot of guys like their KI. Hopefully, you are able to shoot your new bow a lot with no issues after repair.

Thank you for sharing yours.i didn't want to wait for the built in crank so I got the one without and but the crank that goes in the back of the stock.my friends all shot ten point and If I had had the cash to get one of their nicer ones I would have.my lesson has been learned and unless something changes I will not be buying a ki again . Thanks
