I have 2 versions of 100 grain - a longer green head and a shorter stouter looking black head. What are the differences is it a newer improved change or one for vertical and one for XB?

Ive shot the 125 gr swhackers for bows shooting 315 and 350 and no problems from those bows. I aint sure but I believe the two colors are more of a selling hype (crossbow vrs. vertical) than anything else. For faster bows you may run into problems with 'em opening early but double banding should fix that right up.

I think the difference may be the diameter of the furrel.

The green ones are typically for smaller diameter arrows such as used with vertical bows but can be used with crossbow arrows but they may indent your shaft when they open if they have the older blade style. Supposedly they were going to redesign the back of the wing blades to reduce that issue.

The black ones I'm not so sure because some of the black ones had a larger furrel to better match the diameter of the crossbow arrows, and some of the black ones had different cutting widths and weights.

You could try measuring them with a caliper and see if you could find any differences, or contact the Mfr directly and ask them to help you figure out what's different.

As far as banding goes, the way that the blades are deployed, I think that a single band should work in most cases. Single bands work for 362fps from a Scorpyd.

Sam is right on. The green 100gn 2"cut heads are a smaller diameter. I modify mine so they wont hit the inserts or shafts when they open.

There are 2 black versions that I know of.Both are a larger diameter than the green heads. 1 is a 100gn 1.75" cut. The other is a 125 gn 2.25"cut.There is also a blueish grey colored 100gn1.75"cut head that is called a crossbow head. Its no different than the black 100gn head other than color. They may use a stronger band on them.

I've shot the Green 100gn head for years with no early deployment up to 365 fps with just 1 band. You can also make your own bands out of heat shrink tubing and make the bands wider/stronger if you feel the need.

By double banding there is NO WAY they cannot open. Don't be scared to double band.;)
