Jim-

I am hoping you see this thread or someone informs you of it...

I am really close to buying a Scorpyd. Most likely the Telson 130 with a slight possibly the RDT150 will be the choice. Anyhow there are some issues I would like to see you publicly commment on...

1. What, if anything, has been discovered about the fraying cable problem on the RDT 165?

2. Would you be willing to, at the customers request, replace the Winners Choice cable/string combo with the Viper-X cable/string combo?

3. Have you had a chance to examine giannid's 165 that he had trouble with? What were the findings?

4. How many Telson 130's have had the same cam problem Super91 is experiencing? Are you going to reimburse customers for replacement strings and are you going to replace the cams that are having this problem; if it's a problem at all and not just an isolated incident?

5. How is the arrow development coming for the RDT 165?

If you could take a bit of your time and thoroughly answer these questions, it would help myself and others a bunch. Not to mention, reinforce confindence not just in your current products, but your company as well.

Thanks

Just for the record: I was just kidding with Jim Kempf about my RD125. Told him I wished I had waited for the 130. For a small fee my wish was his command. 4 days after returning my bow it was back and faster than ever. Now I have to work on a better arrow puller. The kinetic energy on this is UNBELIEVEABLE. Got any suggestions on how to keep inserts in the bolt instead of leaving them in my Mckenzie. :goodjob:

...I couldn't believe folks were posting still under this thread. Gotta say I'm relieved  to see it's a happy post since there are still folks in CN who haven't "heard" of Scorpyd and "Reverse Limbs". Happy shooting.

I live in NC and we have a 150 lbs. min. draw weight law. I have wanted a Scorpyd for two years. I was so happy when I saw a 150 SLP listed on their web site. Months ago this forum talked about the new Scorpyd x-bow being out soon. Scorpyd website said the bows would be built in April 2011. I called Jim twice and left voice mails and it took a week to get a call back. I sent a E- Mail and did not get a response for several days. I finally got to speak with Jim in May and was told the 150 SLP was not ready. I was told to call back in 2-3 weeks whick I did, and got same answer, no 150 SLP. I have continued to call every couple of weeks since, with same answer, no 150 lbs limbs. The last time I spoke with Jim he sounded as if he were tired of my calling. He seemed to not care if he sold me a bow or not. For $1200.00 you should at least act like you want someone's business. From reading this forum, and every other bit of information I could find, and buying a SZ380 which broke, I believe the Scorpyd is the best built and best performing crossbow. I wish Jim's customer service was as good as his bow, I guess, I wont know just how good his x-bow really is.

Hey Lt. Dan
If the 150 SLP isn't ready why not settle for a 165 SLP .They are the same price I think

Hey LT, I'm also from NC and aware of the 150lb rule. When I first spoke with Jim a month back I inquired about the SLP 150. He told me it would be 4-6 weeks before he'd have those limbs. I went ahead and purchased the SLP 165. Needless to say, I'm one happy camper. Placed an HHA Optimizer Model SD-L4 (Optimizer Speed Dial w/ SOLO X L4 Reticle Scope) on it and at 20 yds was dead on after 4 shots. From there it took only 2 more shots to have this baby right on at 60 yds. I'm shooting the Carbon Express Maxima bolts (466 gr total weight w/ 125 gr field points). BTW, I've bent Jim's ears on numerous occassions and he's always been very patient with all my questions. I firmly believe he's making the best product on the market. Just my two cents. Get the 165.

Called a couple of times and got immediate results. I do know he's slow on email so I just call. My experience is great if you have a problem or question.

I wanted a 150 SLP and was promised a 150 SLP was coming several times by Jim. I wont settle for a 165 or 130 Telson. If he is not a man of his word, then I dont want his bows. How hard could it be to up-date his web page or place a post on this forum.

I spoke with Jim about a month ago on the 150 status and he said he wasn't sure if the limbs would be available from the manufacture in time for hunting season. He said he wanted to make sure things were done right... Can't blame him for that.

As for a man of his word, he's always stood behind everything he's told me. If something goes wrong with one of his suppliers, he can't control that.

Dave Barnsdale is a very busy man with tons of limb orders.
Not surprised Jim has to wait on Barnsdale limbs for his bows and don't see it as his fault.
If you order a set from Dave for your personal bow, you're going to have to wait quite awhile to get them.
It's worth it though, they are the best !
I have his Ultra Carbons on my Bowman compounds; they are not equaled by any other manufacturer ! :thumbsu:

Rex-

Welcome to the forum. It's nice to see that Jim has you here to respond to customer and potential customer questions. If you haven't already, you might want to set up an account over on AT to respond to potential questions over there.

Currently I have the Telson 130 (great bow), but I've contemplated getting the 150. I guess the biggest questions I have is how fast is the 150, and besides speed what separates the 150 from the Telson 130?

Hi Rex, thanks for your respose. I may have spoken to you on the phone once, as well as Jim. But again you say SOON what is Soon? How about a solid date like 08-01-11 or whatever the true confirmed shipping date will be. I have heard soon and 2-3 weeks since May and those soons never came to pass. I think you made my point!

Redm2 The SLP 150 speed will be 400 fps compaired to the 130 Telson being 385 to 390 so as for speed not much difference. I think as also Jim does that the best all around crossbow for hunting is the 130 Telson. I think sticking to the Telson is your best option but if you want to go to a faster speed the SLP is a option. The only difference in the Telson and SLP is the SLP riser is a forged riser which gives more strength and the barnsdale limbs in my opinion are the best in the business. The Telson also has the ADF and the SLP doesn't, so you in my opinion have the best all around crossbow. I hope I have answered your questions and good luck in the 2011 hunting season.

The 150 limbs are to be shipped toward the end of the week. They will have to be camo dipped and then shipped to our shop. I am hoping they will be at our shop witnin two or three weeks lets hope sooner. Like I stated yesterday that we have had several calls about the 150 limbs so if you are interested in the SLP 150 you need to call Jim are me to get your order in to reserve your SLP 150. There is only a limited number of sets in the last run of limbs so soon as they get to the shop they will not last. Hope I have answered your question today and hope to be hearing from you soo.

Thanks again,
Rex

Question? Why hasn't the issue with the ADF on the 165 been resolved? Will the 150 limbs still cause it? Talked to Jim on mine. It's still got the ADF in it and I'm starting to have the claw rebound issue. Not every shot but more frequently. I know a lot feel a ADF is important and obviously Jim does too or it wouldn't have been created and still implemented on the 130.

So it there a fix in the works?
And a test on the 150 limbs not causing ADF issues?

#43 ·
I talked to Jim about a getting a 150 with the ADF. He is concerned a person may upgrade a 125 or 150 to a 165 and then have ADF issues. So I don't think the ADF issues come up with a 150, only the 165. I'm on the fence between 150 and a 130. The ADF is important to me so I may have to go with the 130.But I really don't want to.

#44 ·
Same here on the ADF. Without going into a bunch of details I got mine right at the time the ADF issue was discovered. I told Jim I didn't want the 165 if it didn't have the ADF. I may talk to him on the 150. I really don't want a 130 if had I would have just got the 125.

I don't understand why a damper of some sorts or a stronger spring isn't used to stop the recoil and bouncing on the claw. I mean how hard can it be to fix? I'm just guessing here that the spring on mine is a little weaker and it's doing it more. Just a guess on my part and I haven't had it apart to look.

Guess it's phone time come Monday.

I have wanted a SLP 150 since it was placed on Scorpyd website. I called and e-mailed several times to purchase one. Jim never had any limbs all summer. Looks like its now going to be built. A SLP 150 with ADF would be even better. I feel much better with a ADF bow. Lets keep calling and posting Jim and Rex, and convince them to build the SLP 150 with ADF. IMO, Scorpyd is the best x-bow on the market, the 150 SLP with ADF would be the best Scorpyd ever built.
I have waited this long, a little longer for a SLP 150 with ADF, I ready to own one, if Jim builds one.

And the lets just remove it and call it fixed move isn't what I expected either. Giving up or a compromise isn't acceptable.

The ADF on the 165 a couple of pounds off the weight and the critics would have nothing to say bad about it.
